摘要:Data visualization has become an essential tool for making sense of the ever-growing volumes of information we encounter. By translating complex data into compelling visual forms, we can uncover hidden patterns, identify trends, and communicate insights more effectively. However, the power of visualization extends far beyond just data analysis.
In this talk, we will explore how the principles and techniques of data visualization can be applied to the exploration and representation of the human mind itself. Just as data visualization transforms abstract numbers and statistics into intuitive visual models, the visualization of cognitive processes, mental states, and the overall architecture of the mind can lead to transformative breakthroughs in psychology, neuroscience, and our understanding of consciousness. This talk is to give a overview of my journey of from visualizing external world of data to visualizing inner world of mind.

摘要:Data has become an essential part of our lives, offering vast opportunities to shape our work, lifestyles, and interactions with the world. Over the last few decades, data visualization has proven to be a powerful tool for gaining and communicating insights, and facilitating informed decision-making in diverse fields. However, visualization research has traditionally focused on narrow aspects of data interaction, emphasizing desktop environments for experts and individuals without disabilities, thereby overlooking the diverse human capabilities and needs. In this talk, I advocate for expanding our research to encompass broader activities and contexts in which individuals interact with data, aiming to serve a more diverse audience. I will share how my research has evolved from concentrated efforts in data visualization to a broader exploration in human-data interaction. I will present recent projects on novel and inclusive data interaction experiences that leverage advancements in input technologies and AI. I will also discuss research avenues to enrich data experiences for a wider audience, making data and data visualization accessible and beneficial to everyone.
