    Abstract: Time is an exceptional dimension that is common to many application domains such as medicine, engineering, science, or business. Due to the distinct characteristics of time, appropriate visual and automated methods are required to explore trends, patterns, and relationships. The talk will provide an overview on how to account for the complex structure of time in Visual Analytics and showcases a number of application examples.

    Speaker Bio: Wolfgang Aigner is the scientific director at the Institute of Creative\Media/Technologies (IC\M/T) at the St. Poelten University of Applied Sciences, Austria and adjunct professor at TU Wien, Austria. His main research interests include visual analytics and information visualization with a focus on time-oriented data. Aigner received the PhD and habilitation degrees in computer science from TU Wien in 2006 and 2013, respectively.

    Session Chair Bio: Lingyun Yu, Assistant Professor, School of Advanced Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She is the leader of the research group of Human-Computer Interaction and Computer Vision, Programme Director of MSc Human-Computer Interaction. She received her PhD degree from University of Groningen at 2013, and worked as a postdoc researcher at the University of Groningen and UMCG from 2016 to 2019. Her research focuses on interactive visualization, human-computer interaction and collaborative exploration in VR/AR/MR environments.

    The China Society of Image and Graphics, Technical Committee on Visualization and Visual Analytics (CSIG-VIS) is the first technical committee on visualization and visual analytics in China. The technical committee aims to develop a communication platform for stakeholders in academia and industry, to discuss the trends and opportunities in the era of big data, to promote the discipline development and talent cultivation, to push forward the research and applications in the related disciplines, and ultimately to build a sustainable ecosystem involving industry, universities, and other research institutes.
